About

Most businesses treat email as an afterthought.

A newsletter when someone remembers. A promo when revenue looks soft. I treat it as the system underneath the revenue, and I do the operational half (the builds, the QA, the segmentation) instead of handing over a strategy deck.

You own your email list. Everything else you rent. That's why email keeps working through algorithm changes that wreck other channels.
01 / Who's doing the work

Hi, I'm Dane.

Founder · Monterey Peninsula, CA

I run Destination Email Marketing from the Monterey Peninsula, building email programs for coaching, education, and service businesses.

Before this I spent about a decade in Peninsula schools and youth athletics (coaching, teaching, directing city camps, and running beach volleyball tournaments up and down the coast). That's a stranger path into marketing than most, and it turns out to be the useful part. Ten years of recruiting families, hosting visits, promoting events, and writing the emails nobody else wanted to write teaches you what actually moves someone from interested to committed.

What I like about email is that the feedback loop is honest. You ship a sequence and two weeks later the report tells you whether you were right. That's why I do the builds, the QA, the segmentation, and the list hygiene myself. A strategy is only worth what the execution delivers.

02 / Principles

What I actually believe about this.

Not slogans. Each one changes what I build and what I'll tell you not to bother with.

01

Email is a revenue channel, not a communication channel

If a send can't be traced to a number, it's a habit rather than a program. Every campaign I build has a job and a way of proving it did it.

02

Consistency beats intensity

A decent weekly email that always shows up will out-earn a brilliant one that goes out twice a year. Most lists don't have a creative problem, they have a cadence problem.

03

Segment before you scale

Sending more to everyone is the fastest way to train people to ignore you. Sending the right thing to a smaller group is how open rates stay in the sixties.

04

You own your list and nothing else

Reach on every other platform is borrowed and can be repriced overnight. Your contacts and their permission are the only audience asset that's actually yours.

05

The operational half is the hard half

Anyone can write a strategy. Fewer people will wire the integrations, fix the deliverability, and QA the flow the night before a launch. That's the part that decides whether the strategy was real.

03 / Fit

Who I work with.

I'm useful to a narrow set of businesses and I'd rather say so on the call than after the invoice.

Good fit

Coaching, education & membership brands

You have an audience and a real offer, but revenue spikes around launches and goes quiet in between.

Good fit

Service businesses with local demand

Leads come from posting and paid ads. When you stop, inquiries stop, and nobody follows up with the people who didn't book.

Less good fit

Anyone who wants a one-off blast

If the plan is to send one campaign and see what happens, you don't need me. This work compounds or it doesn't work.

04 / In their words

A client, unprompted.
